Bryars Gautier DeblondeFamed British composer Gavin Bryars joined Aventa in residence at The Banff Centre to create a new opera based on the last days of Marilyn Monroe, based on
award winning Canadian author Marilyn Bowering’s book “Anyone can see I love you”. Under the direction of Canadian director Joel Ivany, the evening featured the other-worldly Faroese chanteuse, Eivør in two fully staged scenes from the opera. The program also featured a performance and recording of Bryars’s 20th century masterwork The Sinking of the Titanic. The residency was a co-production of the Banff Centre and the British Columbia Arts Council.
