Prelude to elsewhereless

Prelude to elsewhereless (2011) is an adaptation of the orchestral interlude to scene 4 of Sharman’s 1998 opera elsewhereless. The work was completed in the summer of 2011 and is dedicated to Aventa’s concertmaster, Muge Buyukcelen.

Couples, Doubles, Pairs (2009) was commissioned by the A•DEvantgarde Festival with assistance from the Canada Council for the Arts. The work is scored for horn and strings and is riddled with structural games, strategies and ambiguities. The intended sound world is, however, sensual and fragile; all sustained notes on the horn and strings are played on natural harmonics, the horn played as a “natural” horn”. – Rodney Sharman
