Aventa is pleased to welcome Duo Inquietum in a wonderfully curated program for flute, clarinet, electronics/video. Featuring works from a cosmopolitan array of international composers, alongside Canadian composers Keith Hamel and Hiroki Tsurumoto, the duo is especially pleased to present two works from the Australian composer, Liza Lim, whose music has been described as extraordinary, inclusive and visionary…MusicWeb International.

Founded in 2018 by clarinettist Liam Hockley and flutist Mark Takeshi McGregor, Duo Inquietum took its name from Luigi Nono’s iconic A Pierre. Dell’azzurro silenzio, inquietum.  The duo curates thematically driven programs that both showcase and recontextualize music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Their performances frequently interweave new works by contemporary composers with European postwar “classics,” creating dialogue across generations and aesthetic traditions. Since their formation, Duo Inquietum has recorded for Redshift Records, appeared in the Vancouver New Music and Music on Main concert series, and participated in a composer–performer residency at Simon Fraser University’s Music & Sound program.
